Lorin Benedict

This was a very fun-to-play trio set with two excellent musical colleagues: Caroline Davis- alto sax, Sam Ospovat- drums (and then me, of course, on voice). We opened for the wonderful Kenny Warren Trio on 5/15/19 at Balboa in Brooklyn. By the way, as far as I understand it, the Wednesday evening music series there is co-curated by Kenny and Caroline.
Anyway, in our set, we played a piece by Caroline and then a piece by Sam, both of which were specifically structured while also requiring goodly amounts of free improvising, and then we headed into more standard fare before closing with a totally free piece.
