This is a large-ish ensemble piece composed by percussionist Sam Ospovat, originally for the Oakland Active Orchestra. Later, he recorded a version of it for use as the opening track to his album, PIKI.
This live version was performed on 2/13/13 at the Swarm Gallery in Oakland. The musicians are: Karl Evangelista- guitar, Jordan Glenn- percussion, Theo Padouvas- trumpet, Jason Gillenwater- tenor sax, Mark Clifford- vibes, Lorin Benedict- voice, Lisa Mezzacappa- bass, and Sam Ospovat- conducting and amplified egg-timer. Oh yeah... and all of the aforementioned play bells and so-called "angklung" wooden instruments (save Lisa) as well.
